The INAM is part of the Ministry for Transportation and Communication (MTC) of Mozambique and provides weather forecasts, twice a day, to the public and INGC (Mozambique National Institute of Disaster Management). Next to this forecasts, seasonal outlooks, especially before the rainy season, on expected precipitation and cyclone activity are communicated to INGC and other departments. The regional seasonal outlook is downscaled for Mozambique by INAM and an interpretation is provided to the different users, also the agricultural community.

INAM is equipped with a Meteosat receiving station (EUMETSAT) and provides an operational food security outlook.
